Learning Initiatives
Across the three schools children attend daily small focussed teaching groups to develop ‘Talk for Writing’ literacy skills and we use ‘Helicopter Stories’ story making sessions to develop a strong sense of narrative. We use story making sessions based on the work of Vivian Gussin Paley. We have provided training and setting to setting support in this area.
Dynamic learning environments promote sustained shared thinking by providing opportunities to explore, experiment, research, reflect and make sense of the world. Documentation is undertaken in a number of ways, such as the Talking and Thinking floorbooks, to make visible the learning process.
Each school has a significant cohort of children with SEND which has led to developing this area of work and creating highly skilled staff teams. The consortium has been involved in a DfE funded project with Pen Green to demonstrate best practice for early years children with SEND and support local PVIs.
